How To Fry With No Smell

Living in a small unit is a bit hard and stressful. Well, one of the problems that we usually encounter is the fishy and oily odor that can be smelled during and after frying. That is what my husband often complains. Since we are just living in a 20sqm rented studio type apartment, the smell is all over the place – bed sheet, blanket, hanged clothes and my body. 😦 I cannot avoid frying though I want to, I made a research about it. Thanks to the world wide web and I found the answers. Actually, I already tried doing it the last time I fried fish for my escabeche or sweet and sour fish.

But before I found the solutions to my problem, I tried using wax paper to cover the pan. In that way, the oily smell would not scatter all over the place. And you know what, it was a success! The smell was lessened. But what I wanted is no smell at all. That was the time I applied what I have learned.

Follow these simple steps to get rid away of oily and fishy smell during and after frying.

1. Prepare a cup with 1/4c water and 1/4c vinegar and place it near the stove.

2. Mix 1/2c water together with 1/4 cup vinegar in a pan.

3. Let it boil. It will absorb the oily and fishy smell brought about by frying.

4. Turn off the stove once the smell has gone in your place.

By simply following these steps, your room or even your house will be free of any odor. 🙂 Happy frying!

Penang Hill at Robinsons Ermita

Since I wasn’t able to treat my sister a simple snack on her birthday at Taco Bell, she told me that she’ll treat us instead on Sunday. That was a very nice idea of her. Because it was been a long time since we went out and had some chit chats. Bonding with your sissies is a great thing to do most especially if you do not see each other that often and have no time to share stories to tell. After having two days of vacation in Kaytitinga and spending time with my mom, nephews and nieces, my hubby and I went back to Manila after lunch. I almost forgot that my sister will meet us at Robinsons Ermita. Well, her text message saved us from heading to Cubao. So we immediately got off the bus somewhere in Pasay and rode a jeepney.

Upon reaching the mall, my hubby and I got the chance to spot the Crepe Ice Cream store. We decided to order and try it. Well, to our surprise … it was delicious but nothing more special. Hihihi! My sister was patiently waiting and having her snacks at Cerealicious. After waiting for our youngest sister, we left and looked for a restaurant to have our dinner.

Since Penang Hill has a few more vacant seats, we came in and decided to give it a try.  Penang Hill restaurant serves Malaysian foods. We ordered one big plate of Shanghai Rice, which is good for 5-6 persons. My sissies ordered for a beef while my hubby and I ordered the kari chicken. Little did I know that it was chicken curry. 😦 Too bad, I hate the taste of curry. Anyway, we enjoyed our dinner as well as our chit chats. 🙂

Krispy Kreme is one of the stores I frequently visit because of  their yummy and fresh doughnuts.  KK Doughnuts might be a bit expensive compared to other doughnut store but its price does not scare away the doughnut lovers as well as the coffee lovers who are looking for a different experience. Its 4 years of existence in the country made Filipinos to love doughnuts more, even the oldies. 🙂

You are entitled to have a half dozen of original glazed doughnuts at KK. Go to any branch of Krispy Kreme, present the original receipt (the one with your signature) to the cashier together with your citi card and you’ll definitely have your box of doughnuts. :)) If you have previous receipts with you last month, you can still use them to claim your free glazed doughnuts. Those who will just start their Christmas shopping, have your items worth P3000 and up split in P1500 receipt to have 2 or more receipts. In that way, you’ll have 2 or more boxes of KK doughnuts. After lots of hard work in convincing my husband to go shopping (he really needs a new pair of jeans because his old pairs are really worn-out but he doesn’t want to buy a new one, mind you) we were able to have two boxes of doughnuts from KK. Actually he was wondering why I was splitting the items worth 5k into 3 receipts worth P1500 each. And what surprised him the most was the free doughnuts we claimed at Krispy Kreme Gateway. :))
