Aniceto Pension House in Puerto Princesa

Before going to Palawan, I kept on browsing the net to find the perfect place to stay for two days and three nights. Staying in a hotel was a no-no for me. Who needs a cozy room when you’re away most of the time? All we need is a place to sleep with a nice bathroom of course. As I was browsing the net, I read some blogs of local travelers who stayed at Aniceto Pension House. Since most of their comments were good, I decided to make a reservation immediately.

I sent an email to the owner, Ms. Tess, asking for any vacant rooms on the date of our tour. We were lucky enough to have a room for two on those dates. Yey! And take note, no downpayment is required! 🙂 Here are some of the pictures of the Pension House.

From Rizal Avenue, take a tricycle and tell the driver to bring you to Aniceto Pension in Roxas St, Corner Reynoso St. P7 fare per head only.

Ground Floor

A mini-store that can be found at the receiving area in the ground floor. You can also rent the pc for surfing the net.

SECOND FLOOR

The living room at the second floor where some of the rooms are also here.

Room 25 was the room reserved for us, double room with queen bed.

Veranda at the second floor.

THIRD FLOOR

At the third floor, you can find the kitchen and dining area here. Rooms can also be found here.

The area where you can cook food and wash the dishes. Utensils are also available here. CLAYGO! Across the kitchen is the dining area with refrigerator. You can store your foods there but make sure to label your goods and don’t get anything that is not yours.

A sofa bed where can you can relax while enjoying the view of the seaside or reading books stored in the shelves.

Books that you can read while relaxing at the third floor.

Don’t forget to write your names here. 🙂

ROOF DECK

Area in the roof deck where can you relax and have some chitchats with your friends.

Smoking and drinking are also allowed in this area but be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of this area.

*****Laundry services can also be requested from the staff of Aniceto.******

Hi! For hotel rooms, the cheapest is P1500 while for pension houses, room rates start at P650 per night (Aniceto). If you’re looking for a place to stay near the airport (walking distance), try Moana Hotel, Turissimo Hotel, Big Brother’s House, Balay Inato etc… Other places to stay, P7/head trike ride: Lola Itang – P850 (executive room), Bulwagang Princesa Inn – P1300/night with free breakfast (twin sharing).

City Tour – P500 tricycle rental (back & forth)
      Underground River Tour – P1200/head
Honda Bay Island Hopping Tour – P1300/head

But it will be a lot cheaper if you’ll do it yourself. Kindly read our Palawan DIY tour for more details:

hi g-nang! my hubby & i will be in PPS at the end of this month. we’ll be staying at casa fuerte, is it a good choice? we’re also planning to have a DIY honda bay tour, where can we bring our fresh seafood to be cooked for lunch? do u have a specific resto in mind? how much is paluto? can we also buy rice there? would love to hear from you the soonest…..thanks!

Did you already make a reservation at Casa Fuerte? It’s a bit far from the city and if you go back there late at night, trike fares might be around P50. I heard good reviews about Casa Fuerte but haven’t tried staying there though. Walls are made of sawali and rooms are not ac. If you would be going to Hunda Bay, try to ask the locals at Snake Island/Pandan Island to cook your foods with a minimal charge I guess. But since you’re only 2, why not bring take-out foods from Haim’s Chicken Inato or other restaurants so that you won’t have to cook. Most of the “paluto” foods are being grilled at the island. Steamed rice can also be bought there.

Actually we’ll be going to Palawan for the second time on the 28th of this month but for the first time — with my inlaws… 😉 Hope to see you there!

If you would hire a trike in going to Hunda Bay from Aniceto, it will take you 30-45 minutes. Going to the underground river by jeepneys or buses will take you 3 hours. Hope this helps! 🙂

Hello, just wondering, is it okay to go to Palawan by September/October? We were planning to have a vacation there for 3-5 days. He he. Maybe, you can help us decide. Also, we are planning to book our flights with AirPhil Express, do you happen to know any cheaper airlines? Ha ha! Thanks!

    Nice post, BTW 🙂

You can go to Palawan anytime.. 😉 And staying there for 4-5 days would be enough even if you go to El Nido. When it comes to booking, you can book Cebu Pacific, Airphilippines and Zest Air. They usually give promo or seat sale so better watch out for it so that you can get tickets at an affordable price! 🙂 Good luck!

Yup, you can cook food at Aniceto… Gas stove is already provided there. You can cook food and store left overs in the refrigerator. Make sure you label it or else it’ll get lost. 🙂

Did you mean the contact number of the tricycle driver? I am sorry but we did not get his number. But you can ask any trike driver to take and pick you up there. Payment should be made after the tour. Or if you want, you may contact LEO (09108502952), our van driver last April, and ask for a trike driver that you can hire for the city or hunda bay tour. I am not sure if he still remembers me but he was our driver, courtesy of Gerald, for the Hunday Bay & City Tour. You can mention that if he asks who gave you the referral.

Hi G-nang. My husband and I will be in Puerto Princesa next month. I read so much about Aniceto Pension because of its affordable room rates, I think I am decided now to stay there as well. May I know please how long it will take us to go to the Underground River from Aniceto? And do we need to have a reservation for the underground river tour? Or we can just pay there pag dating namin doon? And how much po ang rental ng van and tricyle going to underground river? Thank you so much.

Going to the Underground River takes 2 hours via private van and 3 1/2 hours via jeepney or bus. You have to get a permit & schedule in advance. You can do it on the day of your arrival in Puerto Princesa so that you’d be able to get your own preferred schedule of the UR Tour. Check here for the location of their new booking office. Enjoy your Palawan trip! 😉

As far as I know, there are no restrictions because everyone who takes the tour wear a life jacket and aside from that, having the tour is totally safe not only for adults but for kids as well. 🙂

There are rooms that have private toilet & bath like the room we occupied the first time we visited Palawan. Going to the airport from Aniceto wouldn’t take you that long, around 15-20 minutes I guess. They do not provide airport transfers but they can assist you with the guided tours. Enjoy your PP trip. 🙂

thanks for sharing in your blog, we stay at Aniceto Inn, the owner of the place is so nice and kind, and all the staff are accommodating, the rate is reasonable, they even helped us to booked for our underground river tour, during our free time we stay at the top of the pension house, so relaxing especially at night, where my brother drinks his beer while we drink coffee. Sooooo cool, luv it, we will return to Palawan and we promise to Tess that we will stay again in their pension house.

In Puerto Princesa, you can stay at Aniceto Pension House but in El Nido, I have no idea since we haven’t been there. But as far as I know, the accommodations there are more affordable compared to PP. Some say you can stay for a fan room at P200-300/night. Good luck! 🙂

Hi. One of the readers here informed me that they would stay at Tres Pension because of the good reviews she found online. Haven’t heard of this pension house though but you could give it a try.

She also mentioned the package tour she would be availing from this pension house:
City Tour – Php 600 each
      Underground – Php 1,600 each

      Hope this helps! 😀
